Joy

Sorrow is a deep well that will fill with joy to overflowing. This painting is musical, abundant and growing.

Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. —Psalm 30:5

All Creation Sings - Diptych

As Jesus steps out of the tomb on resurrection morning, heaven and earth become one, the rivers of living water flow in harmony and communion.

The tabernacle of God is with men again; he will dwell with them and they shall be his people, and he shall be their God. —Revelation 21:3

Exodus

Like the Israelites of old, as we walk away from bondage, our captivity still looms large in our minds and the sun is hot and oppressive as we walk into freedom. God leads us by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. We are refreshed at Elim, the place of seventy palms; and at Mount Sinai, God speaks to us.

Oh God, you are my rock, my fortress. —2 Samuel 22:2

Saved

"And you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
—Matthew 1:21

The Path

The path of a Christian is like a fish attempting to climb uphill. This world is not our home. The fish has just enough water to keep it alive, and there are many obstacles. Though the mission seems impossible, hope-filled light shines through the clouds. And though we feel alone, there are others alongside us on the journey.

"I am a stranger and a sojourner with you." —Genesis 23:4

Safe

Noah’s ark was held firm by God’s hand in the form of that rainbow which was reflected into the heavens... and so God holds you in the midst of the storm.

For in the time of trouble he will hide me in the safety of his pavilion. —Psalm 27:5

The Warmth of the Sun and the Colour of the Wind

A week’s sketching of tides and sky are combined in this glorious display of a Florida beach vacation.

I will lay fair colors in your foundations. —Isaiah 54:11

Daydreaming Child

Gazing out into the light, the child longs for freedom, love and the release from darkness and isolation.

The light shines in the darkness and the Light is the light of men. —John 1:4, 5

Garden Tomb

Painted on-site in Jerusalem.

Now in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulcher, wherein was never a man yet laid. —John 19:41

Dark Music

Fear is mysterious and pervasive, existing in a tense ball of disease. Love, service, duty and faithfulness can continue in its presence, for courage is not the absence of fear but the offering of the good in spite of fear's presence.

God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.
—2 Timothy 1:7

Rend the Heavens

Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me.... —Psalm 119:143 Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down.... —Isaiah 64:1

I cry out to God, rend the heavens open and come down to help me, my God and savior and my deliverer!

Shattered Dream

Storm-tossed and overwhelmed by pain and confusion... there is a lighthouse, though small, to light the way. The place of pain is the sunrise of God’s breaking day, revealing hope and mission.

Resolution

Christ rises above the conflict and speaks peace into the situation and into our hearts.

God has committed to us the word of reconciliation. —2 Corinthians 5:19

Friendship Garden

This is a prayer painting. I am praying for the hesitant figure on the far right. She always becomes a friend entering the garden of friendship and fellowship in Christ. Then a new person is brought before God in intercession.

Receive one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. —Romans 15:7

Beloved

As we open our hearts to the Lord, the spirit of God cleanses and heals each wound and scar. Cords of love bind us to Him in intimate communion. We are eternally united.

"My beloved is mine and I am His." —Song of Solomon 6:3

Lily Among Thorns

While all around us in the world conflict, darkness and disorder are pervasive, He reigns forever as our peace and our light. His tenderness and mercy forever rise up as his banner among us.

I am the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley, like a lily among thorns.
—Song of Solomon 2:1

Light That Shatters the Darkness

The scene is dark and evil, then the light changes everything. Love is more powerful than hate, good triumphs over evil and light conquers darkness.

Awake oh sleeper from the dead and Christ will shine on you. —Ephesians 5:14

Flashback

Both the woman and child are wrapped in thoughts, memories, wishes and dreams.

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations. —Deuteronomy 32:7

Living Stones

Jerusalem is the city of three great religions. The Wailing Wall dominates this montage and includes its detail on the bottom left. The Dome of the Rock, El Aqsa Mosque, the Eastern Gates, the Garden Tomb, Via Dolorosa, the site of the raising of Lazarus enshrined in a Catholic church, the Judean Hills and many faces fill these stones with the Life of God.

Adoration—Giving our children wings of faith

Painted by the Lord through the artist and hundreds of children (from St. Joseph School and Parish in Dyer, Indiana) who contributed their strokes of color to the background of this Holy Spirit-inspired panel. Funds raised through the sale of this painting will bless our children’s faith formation. Contact the artist for info on a fundraiser using this or any other print.

Gift

The visit of the unfamiliar or strange may be a surprising and uncomfortable catalyst for change; for growth.

Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. —Proverbs 8:34

Tidepool

The abundant life of heartfelt faith....

In thy presence is fullness of joy. —Psalm 16:11
The earth will be filled with the knowledge of God,
as the waters cover the sea. —Isaiah 11:9
I am come that they might have life and have it abundantly. —John 10:10

Revival

As the Holy Spirit of God descends, revival that begins in the home engulfs the church and community with life giving crystal flames. The water droplets between the wings speak of the refreshment of the Lord.

If any man thirst, let him come to me and drink. —John 7:37

Harvest

This painting shows the vast fields of harvest and the servants of the Lord reaping in the fields. The sheaves on the right are a powerful visual of the harvest for heaven. The transparent technique highlights the fact that the workers themselves are part of the harvest.

Truly the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. —Matthew 4:19

Shepherd

Judean rock formations surround the peaceful waters of the Galilee and the green pastures of Psalm 23. The sheep change as they begin to follow the shepherd—those who are close become one with him. The lamb that cannot walk on his own is carried on his shoulders. Healing waters flow through the Lord. He is the day star-shining with perpetual guidance.

Streams in the Desert

A person in heaviness of spirit in the lifeless, barren wilderness of trial feels helpless and dejected. As he is touched by the streams in the desert, he rises to receive God’s refreshment and strength.

Like streams in the desert and the shadow of a rock in a dry and thirsty land. —Isaiah 32:2

Three Temples

The ancient Temple of God was in Jerusalem. In John 2:19 Jesus said, "Tear down this temple and I'll raise it up in three days." He is the temple of God. "Know ye not that you are the temple of the Holy Spirit?" (Corinthians 3:16) We are the temple of God—all three temples are one in eternal communion.

Angels

This vision speaks of angels and celestial music. A large guardian plays soothing music, Jacob’s ladder with descending angels pierces our world, an angelic warrior fights the powers of darkness and an angel trumpeter announces the coming of the Lord.

He will command angels to guard you. —Psalm 31:11

Fishers of Men

The sea of Galilee is the place of his speech. The sky above resembles the sea of glass on which the throne of grace rests. The nets of the fishermen are extensions of themselves. We must extend ourselves to others in order to influence lives for the Lord. The Lord beckons:

If any man follows me I will make him a fisher of men. —Matthew 4:19.

Throne of Grace

A vision from Revelation 4 and 6 includes a sea of glass, on which men from every tongue and tribe and nation are bowing down before the throne. There are seven golden lampstands and palms are being waved in praise and adoration: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty who was and is and is to come. —Revelation 4:8 A rainbow in the shape of an emerald surrounds the throne and the sound of many waters and rushing winds exude from the throne of God. We are stunned with the beauty of the Lord.

P1050588sm

Isaiah 54

The vision came: walls of the sanctuary were falling down, revealing thousands coming from every direction. Our God will fulfill this vision of in-gathering and revival!

Lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes, spread out to the right and to the left. Your sons and daughters will be taught by the Lord, and great will be your children’s peace. —Isaiah 54

Decision

On the staircase of life—as strange key is found—we stop and consider our actions... what is it? It points outside of our lives to eternity, where the cross is suspended. The banister shows the turning point. Will we stop and consider Christ, or pass by this moment of decision?

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. —Matthew 4:17

Troika

These three powerful beauties speed through the frozen tundra. Wild and frigid, you can feel the wind and action.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. —1 John 5:8
